 Proserpine Sugar commissioned the digestors in November 2009, producing furfural from bagasse.
The plant, which is highly automated, worked well.
Due to important maintenance tasks on the sugar mill boilers, optimisation of the process and commissioning of the distillation will have to wait until cane crushing resumes next June (2010).
