The DalinYebo’s key personnel consist of the enlarged core team that:

  • won the Neale-May Gold Medal in 2004 for “Development of the novel SupraYield® process”,
  • was nominated in 2005 and 2006 “Technology Top 100 Enterprise” and
  • was awarded by the Deputy Minister of Science and Technology in 2006 "in recognition of achievement in developing the bioscience sector in South Africa".

Brent McKeon: COO of DalinYebo Trading & Development (Pty) Ltd
B.Sc. Chemistry and Biochemistry
Brent is responsible for developing the markets and marketing and selling of the biobased chemicals and their applications. He is a founding director of DalinYebo Trading and Development (Pty) Ltd and its Chief Operating Officer. He is an experienced technical marketer with a practical knowledge of distribution and storage in many countries. He has the ability to successfully interact with people and is experienced in negotiating with many nationalities in the setting up of the worldwide distribution systems and the marketing of technical products, especially bio-based chemicals such as furfural and its derivatives to the global markets.

Harvey graduated from Natal University in 1976. He is in charge of all project-related tasks including advising on pilot plants and research rigs. Over the last thirty years, he has gained experience in process engineering, technical and project management, as well as a director of operations. He joined DalinYebo at the end of 2003 and is the Chief Operating Officer of International Furan Technology (Pty) Ltd . His specialities are process engineering, development of food and fine chemical plants and project management of partnered and turnkey projects. He has been involved in the design, engineering, construction and project management, and commissioning of acetaldehyde, acetic acid, formaldehyde, pentaerythritol, ethanol, phthalic anhydride, maleic anhydride, fumaric acid, vinegar, plasticiser, resin, and furfural plants, as well as sugar mills and refineries.

Bradford Wills: General Manager of International Furan Technology (Pty) Ltd

Brad is also a graduate from University of Natal (2003).  He was awarded a bursary for study from the South African Breweries who employed him after finishing his studies.  At SAB he initially completed a management traineeship which enabled him to advance to the position of Manufacturing Development Specialist.  In this role he was exposed to World Class Manufacturing techniques as found in Japanese manufacturing companies.  During his time he was accredited as a Black Belt in Six-Sigma methodology.  In his work he was responsible for all the continuous improvement initiatives in his department. Because of this experience he brings to the team not only his core technical skills in engineering but also an ability to maximize the performance of work teams.   Brad is the newest member to the team, having joined in September 2009.

Dr Wolf Bernhardt: CHIMERA: Inventor and Project Manager

Dr Wolf Bernhardt is a registered professional engineer. He has 10 years’ experience in high school education, 7 years in tertiary technical education as well as 13 years in industrial research and research management (sugar industry). He holds the following tertiary qualifications, most of them from the University of Natal (Durban): BSc, Higher Diploma in Education, Bachelor of Education, NHD Chemical Engineering , MSc Eng and PhD Eng. He is also operating as a management consultant. 


He was a Council member of the SA Institution of Chemical Engineers where his speciality portfolio was in education and training. He is a member of the SA Sugar Technologists’ Association and a member of the Engineering Council of SA accreditation team for chemical engineering departments of Universities of Technology in South Africa.


Dr Bernhardt has delivered a number of papers on technical and education subjects at national and international conferences.  He has published numerous articles in the press on effective management topics.


He is the inventor of a Cane Trash Burner and directs the DalinYebo team responsible for its commercialisation.

Honorary Professor, School of Chemical Engineering, University of KwaZulu-Natal.
Dave lead process development in the DalinYebo Group and until December 2009 he was Chief Operating Officer of DalinYebo Innovation. His responsibilities include technical, financial and facilities management, reporting of results and liaison with cooperating parties. Dave was an alternate director on the board of the South African Sugar Milling Research Institute, co-chair of the Production and Use of Biofuels Team of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Regional Technical Team on the African 10 Year Framework Programme on Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP). He was also Head-of-School of the School of Chemical Engineering at the University of KwaZulu-Natal and retains an active teaching role until December 2010.

Dave is still a member of the DalinYebo team that is responsible for the commercialisation of the Cane Trash Burner.

Philipp is the architect of the DalinYebo Group and responsible for making relationships work, strategies and financial control. His specialities are market research, feasibility studies, market development, marketing strategies & presentations, management of tender and proposal preparations, contract negotiations, project development/structuring and business development.
