Proserpine Updates on Furfural Project Progress

The plant (see picture of flow chart below) operates under an environmental Licence - there
is no release of water and limited release of VOCs. The plant is classed as a Chemical Plant
and the design involved Hazard Identification (HAZID) as well as Hazard and Operability
(HAZOP) studies. The project complied with all Australian Government approvals required
for the development of the furfural plant and received development approval, incorporating
approvals by Whitsunday Regional Council, Emergency Services, Department of Main
Roads and Environmental Protection Agency.
The technology that will be used is called SupraYield® and was developed by IFT (www.ift.co.za ), in collaboration with the University of KwaZulu-Natal University (Durban) and Digesters Proserpine Mill (Australia). It is a patented process owned by Proserpine Mill and features ow processing cost, low environmental impact and uses residues as fuel.
DalinYebo Trading and Development is Proserpine Sugar Mill's global marketing agent for he chemicals as well as the SupraYield® process, which has also been licensed to Arcoy Biorefineries (Pvt) Ltd (India) for the biorefinery that is under construction at Panoli, Ankleshwar (Gujarat Province).
